The NSC-274GS-DMZ captures video up to a resolution of 4MP @ 30 FPS, which is 2560x1440 pixels. To put this in perspective, FHD (Full High Definition) is 2 megapixels, or 1920x1080 pixels. These cameras don’t have a high resolution, but they’re faster and more affordable. On the other end of the spectrum, 4K Ultra HD resolution is 8MP. These produce crazy high resolution video, but can be slower and much more expensive. So at 4MP, this camera is a pretty good blend of both. It has a higher resolution than FHD cameras without the cost of 4K UHD.
Motorized Varifocal Lens
The NSC-274GS-DMZ has a Motorized Varifocal Lens, ranging from 2.8mm to 12mm. This means you can easily and quickly adjust the zoom to your liking directly from the camera’s interface.
The Motorized Varifocal Lens gives you more control over your image. Optically zoom in to view finer details and a tighter 29° shot. Or keep the camera zoomed out to enjoy the bigger picture with a 104° wide angle field of view.
IP67 Weatherproof Rating
This camera has an Ingress Protection (IP) rating of 67. This means the camera is completely protected from dust and other solid particles. It can also withstand being submerged in 3 feet of water for up to 30 minutes.
Rest assured that when you install this camera outside, it will have no problem braving the toughest of storms.
IK10 Vandalproof Rating
The NSC-274GS-DMZ has an Impact Protection (IK) rating of 10, which is as high as the scale goes. If a vandal wants to try to bust open this camera, more power to them. Literally, they're going to need a lot more power, because this thing is practically indestructible. That's why these dome-style cameras are often called vandal-proof domes, or vandal domes for short.
98' Night Vision IR Range
When the sun goes down or the lights go out, this camera switches on its own onboard infrared LED lights. These lights, which are invisible to the human eye, allow the camera to continue functioning and recording video 24/7, day or night. And since its IR range covers up to 98 feet, you're not going to miss anything that happens on your camera's feeds, even if it happens in pitch-black darkness.
The NSC-274GS-DMZ is a part of our H-Series line of products. As such, it's packed with features that would please a power user, yet it's simple enough to operate for a novice. Easily view and manage your cameras and recorders anywhere in the world with the free mobile and desktop applications. For the power user, these apps give you the power to adjust advanced settings on the fly. For the novice, you can use the apps to simply view live feeds and play back recorded video. Whatever you need to accomplish, it's all right there at your fingertips.
Plug & Play
If you're creating a new system out of our H-Series cameras, set up is insanely easy with our H-Series line of POE NVRs. Simply plug the camera into the back of the H-Series NVR and you have instant video on the recorder's HDMI interface. You can also view and manage the NVR through free desktop and mobile apps, such as Hik-Connect and iVMS-4200.
If you want to add this camera to a security system already set up, that’s no problem. This camera complies with the protocols set by the Open Network Video Interface Forum (ONVIF). This means, as long as your current recorder is ONVIF compatible, you’ll be able to set this camera up with your current system.
Verified PurchaseA great versatile ip cam with lots of options and capabilities.
Verified PurchaseI like this camera (I bought three) but I only purchased these varifocal cameras because I needed different focal lengths beyond what Nelly's carries (Nelly's seem to only carry 2.8mm dome cameras--at least in the Hikvision 4MP dome line). I almost purchased the equivalent 3MP cameras instead because they have the "S" (sound) option; these 4MP cameras do not. They do exist but Nelly's doesn't carry them. If it weren't for the 3 year warranty that Nelly's provides, I would have bought Hikvision cameras elsewhere so that I could have a sound option. As it happens, for my applications, sound would be nice, but it's not required.
These cameras are very nice (images/recordings), but a little tricky to dial in in terms of focal length and focus during installation. I installed these as outdoor cameras at my house and I definitely needed help getting the focus just right. Imagine being up on a ladder with your cell phone and comparing your focal length and focus adjustments with the tiny image on your cell phone. It'd be much better if you were on the phone with another person sitting in front of a monitor. Additionally, the focus lever on the camera is a bit tricky. You must unscrew the lever a little to get it to slide. Don't unscrew it too much or the lever falls right out! Fortunately for me the tiny little lever fell into the camera itself, so it was retrievable. If it had fell into the grass, I'd have never found it.
So, once the lever is loosened a little, you have to slide it left or right to focus the focal length you've decided on. The lever and lens do not slide smoothly, but somewhat jerky. Some trial and error will get you just the right focus, but you really do need someone helping you get that perfect focus. Otherwise you'll be up and down the ladder many times.
