      I have had this NVR and camera set up for about two years and have always had problems with it. The iVMS 4200 software is not compatible with newer computers resolution. I constantly have problems connecting my computer to the NVR I keep getting error messages. Occasionally it will work but when it is really needed I will not be able to pull up video in play back. I will be changing out the NVR for another system hopefully one that will work better.

    I’m considering mounting this NVR in a coat closet (to hide unit) about 35’ away from my TV and running a HDMI cable to my TV
    Will the remote (that comes with it) work ? Is it Bluetooth, RF or infrared?
    Does the unit need a keyboard or mouse as well?

    The remote is Infrared so at that distance with it being in enclosed space it will Not work.
    You can possibly get a Bluetooth mouse with USB dongle and that should work. You do Not need a keyboard, mouse is the best way to control the NVR.

    I'd like to occasionally view the NRV/cameras from my bedroom LED TV but it's not feasible to run HDMI cable from the location of the NRV all the way to my bedroom. Some NVRs support Apple TV apps. Do you have that as well. If so, it would make this purchase a no-brainer for me.

    I have heard of customers using this NVR with an Apple TV, however im not aware of any apps since we dont have one here to test.

    The NVR does have an RTSP stream that you can use though!

    Can you remote back up the hard drive on this NVR to sites like carbonite?

    Hello,

    We have not tested Carbonite with our Products.

    I do know that you can upload to remote FTP servers and a NAS like synology surveillance station.

    You may try reaching out to carbonite to see if they support Hikvision or Raysharp uploading via FTP or Server backup!

    Do I have to use the ports on the back of the unit for PoE, If I would like to add cameras that are wireless to this device am I able to find the WiFi based cameras IP on this NVR?

    Hello,

    You do not have to use the built-in PoE ports.
    As long as the wifi cams are on the same local network as the NVR and are either H-series or ONVIF compliant, you can manually assign them to the channels on the NVR with their IP addresses, and login info.

    It would depend on the camera rather than the NVR.
    Our H-series cameras do support smart events (Line crossing, intrusion, etc.). And this Hseries NVR will support those functions!
